Paerata map with the Whangarei Orienteering Club

This map was used for the first time last year for the Middle course of the Auckland Orienteering Champs in October. It is a great addition the areas we are able to use,as a few of our forest maps have become quite overgrown and difficult to set courses in. The area is entirely forested. It is undulating to mod steep terrain, but the runnablity is generally good.

How to get there- Travel west on State Highway 14 to Dargeville.Travel through Tangeteroria and over a bridge,THEN TURN IMMED RIGHT in Paerata rd ( approx 30km from SH1).
The parking and registration is about 1 km from the bridge. Please park on the L hand side of the road.

Registration from 9.45am, start times from 10 am

At Registration-

1. Cost- adults $10 per map, student $7 (if you are charing a map then you only need 3.50)
2. Choose which course you would like to enter
3 Fill in Clip card for course chosen, with name , and course you are on
4 Get slip with control descriptions
5 Obtain correct map
6. Check you have everything-compass/whistle watch, ask any questions if you are unsure.
7 Head to start where you will be issued with a start time and set on your way.

Course closure at 1230pm

Bring- comfortable outdoor clothing and shoes, compass, watch and a drink, thermal top, rain coat

We will also be taking vans, so if you require a ride out to the event, please contact me at school. You will need to bring $5 for gas.

New Zealand Secondary School Orienteering Champs

Hey Guys and Gals,
The New Zealand Secondary School Orienteering Champs are taking place on the 25th-27th of July, in the Hawkes Bay. Last year we took a small number of students down to New Plymouth, and had a blast. The event is made up of three races, one on each day, and you can choose to do one, or all three. By the end of this week I need to know who is intending on going to this event, especially boys.
Please don't worry about transport or accommodation at this point, I just need to know who is keen.
