Information for holiday training

Hi Guys and Gals,
Here is the letter that you were meant to take home with you yesterday. I am sorry that it wasn't ready for you to have but here it is. Please call if you have any concerns.

Dear Parents/Caregivers,
As part of Junior Adventure Racing I have decided to run a two day training camp/multisport race. This will be taking place on the 11th and 12th of October. It will be a two day rogaine race with some problem solving activities on the way. Each group will be with a senior student throughout both days, and I will be moving around the locations checking on teams. I also have Maree Houba and Karen Wynne helping me at the camp site and with equipment on the second day.
Here is all the information that I can give on paper (as there needs to be an element of surprise for our racers), please feel free to call me if you would like the specific locations:
Time and Location:
The start location is at the Harambee and Taiharuru Road Junction at 10.45. Students will need to be there at least 30minutes before the start so that they can plan their routes and sort out team strategy. The finish time for that day is at 4pm, the camp site is a secret location, however if you are eager to know then please call me. There is a BBQ , water, toilets and chiller bins at the camp site. The next day will start at 8.30am, with groups heading off on foot towards Urquharts Bay where they will change methods of transport and finish the day at Taurikura Bay (That final stage is weather dependent). I am planning that this day will finish around 2-3pm, it would be good to have parents there to welcome students into the finish.
Food:
They need to have packed race food for the first day into their day packs and have a second day’s race food in their overnight bag. For dinner they will be in groups and will need to have come prepared with all the food and utensils needed for cooking as there are no shops to buy ingredients. Suggestion for food; bacon and egg pie, pasta salad, sausages and eggs, burgers as you can prepare this before coming on camp. There is clean running water at the campsite.
Transport:
Students will need to find their own rides out to the start and back into town. I will get them to text home before they start the 2nd stage on the second day. I would hope that they will organise rides amongst themselves so that there are only a few parents driving out.
Cost:
There is a $5.00 fee for this training/race, which will go to the local farmer who has allowed us to use his private campsite. All the gear that we will be using is from Whangarei Girls’ High School Outdoor Ed Department and has been lent us on the assumption that nothing is ruined and that we have a good time. The money can be given to me at the campsite.
I feel that this training would be extremely beneficial for all Junior Adventure Racers to give them experience for events later on in the year.
Please call if you have any questions otherwise I will see you Tuesday morning ready to race.
