Senior Dinner

Hi Guys,
On the Sunday the 10th of March we are wanting to have a dinner at the Houbas House form 5.30 onwards.    It would be great to see you all there, plus at least one parent, as we are going to be discussing the plan for the next few months. It is a potluck dinner and family are more than welcome to come. There is a pool at the Houbas so bring your togs. For those of you that are keen to head down to the MTB race we will be back around 5pm.

Events WARTS should be at!!!

Hi WARTS:
Over the next two months there is plenty of opportunity to up skill and spend time practising your orienteering skills. Not only is Thursday night nav up and running, but we have also been offered the opportunity to have some coaching, which would be silly to turn down. The dates listed below, unless stated otherwise, are for all WARTS, and I just ask that you give me an indication of whether you will be attending.
I will be attending some of these events, however others you will need to arrange transport to. The events in Auckland are always worthwhile, and I would encourage you to attend at least one.
Further information can be found at Maptalk, go into their events page and scroll down to the date that you are interested in.

I will be getting in touch with parents that are coming to ARC on Sunday. As the 8 hour is based at the campsite, I have put the same parent on for all the 8 hour teams. Karen if you want to come you are more than welcome and there is definitely enough room, just let me know what you want to do.

Also you should all be watching that ARC website as they put up information all the time such as:

Strong performance in Adventure Races can be put down to handful of key attributes, one of which is good planning. So to help you in your planning we are going to suggest three things:

1. Make sure you all have your compulsory gear - there will be a random check on the course and penalties will be given for missing gear. See race update 3 for full list of gear.
2. Practice joining your rope together - this will be critical for some of you - find the right knot to use
3. Bone up on your world geography, the history of adventure racing and multisport, explorers and acts of bravery.

The reason for number 3 is that in this years race we will be measuring teams intelligence and general knowledge. There will be a quiz incorporated in the race. Not trivia, but real important stuff! The winning team in the quiz will get to keep an Insomniac double kayak for a year.

ARC

Hi Team,
So last week we had a meeting to discuss ARC. If you are wanting to attend then you need to have gotten yourself into a group of two or four. You need to go into the girls high office and pick up a letter, and get it back to girls high by the end of the week (this is for boys and girls), if you have not returned your forms and money to the girls high office by the 4th of feb, then you will not be able to come. Also you need to be realistic, if you have not kept up any running over the holidays then you will not enjoy this event as it can be anywhere between 6-12 hours long.
I am out at camp all week, however I still have cell phone reception so please give me a call if you need something. You should be checking the ARC website and reading through all the information. I will do all the entries for you.

New Year Events!

Hey Guys and Gals,
Happy new year and all that jazz, I hope that you have been taking care of yourselves. Look we really need to get together at the beginning of next week to discuss a few of the up and coming events and training's that we have planned in the next month.
I am thinking that it will have to be after work, so maybe 5pm on either Monday or Tuesday night. It would be good to have your parents there. This is for all Adventure Racers who are keen to go to ARC, which is on the 16th and 17th of February  You need to have kept up your fitness over the holidays, otherwise it will be too hard.
I will post tomorrow as to the venue and day.

Seniors you will be finding out about the training at National Park so you really need to be there.
